Producing at WOW

Most of WOW's season is scheduled many months in advance, and all the regular shows are produced by WOW members. By building up what we call sweat equity, members get the opportunity to use WOW's space and resources for their own shows, for free. Ushering, running lights, building sets and administrative work are all examples of things that build sweat equity.

WOW does not rent its space to outside groups, please do not contact the collective to ask for prices. On the occassions that an outside artist is invited to perform at WOW, that person will work closely with one or more experienced WOW members during her/hir/his time with the group. Please attend a Tuesday night business meeting if you are a self-identified woman, and present your work to the group. Other persons please contact info@wowcafe.org

Members may use the time earned with sweat equity however they wish. There is no Artistic Director to control the content of WOW Members' work. We have the wonderful freedom to create what we dream, to a degree that is perhaps unique. The responsibilities involved are also greater than most theatres require. Collective Members tend to relish and explore their individual artistic liberty and also to provide remarkable support and assistance to each others' endeavors

Got Sweat?

If you have a show that you'd like to bring to WOW but you aren't a WOW member, we may have a limited number of openings in the season. If you are a woman or a trans person, and your cast consists of mostly or all women, we may be able to accomodate you. Generally, WOW would love to bring women's and transpeople's performance from all over the world to our stage, but such shows must be scheduled well in advance. We are actively seeking shows by:

- women of color;

- emerging/struggling/fringe artists; and

- trans artists

if you are in one of these groups and you have a show that you think might fit in, please contact the women of WOW.
