of a co-creation by
Xio Evans Marni Rice Experimental Dance Theatre.

& Marni Rice, New York, USA (Text & Music).
This original creation is a Dance-Theatre piece, exploring the stories of two women from two different Americas: Central America & North America at the turn of the 20th Century.
Through movement, sound and text they explore the development of trade and agriculture, by women who worked the land and lost their share of it, for very different reasons.
Through imagery and story they confront issues of oppression and show the inevitable strength of women and their role in shaping history.
Biographies:

Xio Evans Marni Rice Experimental Dance-Theatre is performance project dedicated to creating original performance works to address issues of social justice. Their collaborative work has been presented at Lehman College, Riverside Church, Judson Memorial Church, The Cell Theater & Wow Café Theatre, as well as street festivals and community gardens in NYC. They co-teach a Dance-Theatre/Storytelling class for girls at The Bronx Highbridge Public Library.

Xio Evans is a Dancer/Choreographer/Educator from Costa Rica currently based in NYC. She is the founder and creator of the first Experimental Dance Theatre in Puerto Limon, with whom she represented Costa Rica in Honduras, Spain and Italy.

Marni Rice is a Chanteuse-Accordionist, Composer and Playwright from NYC. Her original performance works have been featured at Theatre Festivals in the US, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Central Africa. http://www.dejouxmusique.com
